Purpose of the
Program
The purpose
of psychological counseling and guidance program is to provide individuals
with the highest level of development by eliminating the factors that make
their development and adaptation to their environment difficult; to train and
train people who will work to help them turn to educational programs and
professions in which they can develop their latent powers.
Courses Taught in
the Program
In addition to basic
courses such as introduction to education, educational sociology, educational
philosophy, history of education, statistics and research in guidance and
psychological counseling programs, learning psychology, childhood and youth
psychology, social psychology, measurement and evaluation, psychometrics,
mental health, guidance, and psychological counseling; field courses such as
vocational guidance, special education programs, education of maladaptive
children, education of mentally handicapped children are taught and practices
are made.
Required
Qualifications
An individual who wants to
enter the guidance and psychological counseling program has a general academic
ability above normal, is concerned with social sciences, especially psychology
and is trained in this field, has tolerance, patience, sincere love and respect
for people, knows how to listen, is pleased, accepts others as they are. There
must be someone who can. For someone who enjoys helping people, guidance can be
a fulfilling workspace.
Graduates' Titles
and Jobs
Those who
complete the guidance and psychological counseling program work as “Guidance
Teacher” in schools, Guidance and Research Center and private teaching
institutions. The guidance teacher talks to students who have failed or have
difficulty in adaptation or their families; observes their behavior, conducts
tests and tries to reveal the source of problems, helps all students turn to
programs that are tailored to their abilities and interests and develop a
healthy personality; For this purpose, it provides psychological counseling and
guidance services to individuals individually or in groups, advises families on
child education, refers students who need special education to relevant
institutions.
Working places
Those who complete the
guidance and psychological counseling program can take part in public and
private schools, private classrooms, guidance and research centers. After eight
years of education, the need for guidance teachers has increased in schools. In
addition, those trained in this field can take part in the private sector and
human resources units.
